Public Sector Equality Duty

Updated statement - December 2023

We are committed to ensuring that reducing inequality is at the heart of our future priorities as a council. Our updated Corporate Plan has taken into  account the latest data and most recent census information to identify our key strategic priorities, and includes specific commitments to reduce inequalities, both for our workforce and residents.  These are the basis for our statutory equality objectives, which have now been developed in detail and are currently subject to a public consultation which run until 2 February 2024. You can check details of the proposed objectives and consultation.

Key to our purpose as a local authority will be working with our partners to reduce health inequalities and improve outcomes for our most vulnerable children and young people. As an employer we also want to recruit, retain and develop an inclusive workforce, where diversity is valued and one that is reflective of our local communities.

You can view comprehensive information on Slough, including equality and diversity issues that impact our residents and service users, in the Slough Insights Pack.

In accordance with our Public Sector Equality Duty requirements we have already published the

Equalities information on services will be published as it becomes available. You can review current services equality information.

We are clear that embedding an approach to improving equality within our workforce, and for our residents and service users is key to driving our recovery and improvement agenda.
