Course information

Informal Learning (also known as community learning)

These are courses that do not involve taking a qualification and you will be set targets at the beginning of the course about what you want to learn.

These are offered at three levels: Beginners (Everyday), Intermediate, All (open to all levels).

Our Everyday courses are offered in ESOL, Maths, English, and Digital Skills. You can progress from these courses on to Entry/intermediate level courses.

For Digital Skills we offer an intermediate level which you can then progress on to the ITQ qualification.

We also offer employability courses which are open to all: confidence building for work, CV building, Great application forms, and interview preparation.

We offer leisure courses open to all: Driving Theory, exercise, furnishings and, flower arranging.

We also offer family learning courses at local schools and children’s centres – these are promoted to families local to those centres and schools.

We also fund local providers to offer informal learning to residents that complements our provision, particularly in employability and, health and wellbeing. These providers promote their courses to residents in local communities. You can contact us (lifelonglearning@slough.gov.uk) for more information.
