Resident involvement

Resident Board

Our Resident Board is responsible for monitoring our progress and making sure we deliver the action plan that accompanies the Resident involvement strategy. We are accountable to all our tenants and leaseholders, and we will publish our progress in our annual report. We want to:

  • work more closely with residents to put things right quickly and
  • give residents a big part in key housing services’ decision making.

We want to remove any barriers so resident involvement is accessible and meets the diverse needs of our tenants and leaseholders. We:

  • offer a range of ways to get involved and
  • tailor our communication to the needs of our residents.

The Resident Board set up

The Regulator of Social Housing uses a co-regulatory approach. This means boards and councillors must make sure we meet the regulatory standard. The Resident Board also works closely with the lead councillor for housing to make sure:

  • standards are monitored and
  • meet the expectations of all residents.

The Resident Board can have up to 12 tenants and leaseholders with an independent chair.

Our independent chair, Tim Blanc, joined us in December 2023, for a three-year term. He has 20 years’ experience of working in housing, with lots of focus resident involvement, and making sure residents have every opportunity to have a say in how they receive housing services.

The Board meets at least six times a year to review performance, operations and improvement plans. The meetings are mostly online and some, in person, at our office in Observatory House. The Board also gets reports and feedback about other resident involvement activities such as Resident Scrutiny Panel, Tenant Satisfaction measures and the annual satisfaction survey.

Resident Board members receive an induction as well as training. We appreciate their time, commitment and contribution. We also cover expenses, such as travel and childcare, to make sure they can fully take part without barriers.
