Applying for an infant or primary school place for reception year entry

Starting school in Slough

If you are a resident of Slough Borough Council and you have a child whose date of birth is on or between 1 September 2010 - 31 August 2011, then you will be required to apply for a primary school place for the 2015-2016 academic year. This application needs to be made by 15 January 2015. You must only apply through Slough Borough Council if you are a Slough Borough Council resident.

If you are not a resident of Slough Borough Council you will need to apply through your Home Authority. You will still be able to apply for Slough Borough Council schools through your home Authority.

Applying for a secondary school place for year 7 entry

Starting secondary school in Slough

If your child is 11 between 1 September 2014 and 31 August 2015, they will start secondary education in September 2015. You must apply for entry to a Secondary school through your home authority. Slough Borough Council residents can apply for non-Slough schools on our application form. The Secondary Admissions Guide, along with the relevant application form, is automatically issued to Slough residents whose children attend Slough Borough Council schools and are due to transfer at the end of the academic year.

New schools in Slough

Ditton Park Academy and Lynch Hill Enterprise Academy open for year 7 students only in September 2014.

New schools planned for 2015

  • Eden Girls School is a secondary free faith school for girls planned to open in September 2015.
  • Langley Academy Primary is a primary free school with Reception classes due to open in September 2015.

You can apply for places at these schools in the same way as you can existing schools.  Further information can be found in the parents' guide to admissions below.

You can now apply for your school place online:

Applying online - Reception place

You can apply online for a reception year place for an infant or primary school for September 2014 entry, so long as:

  • you apply from 1 December 2014 to 23:59 on 15 January 2015
  • you live in Slough and
  • your child was born between 1 September 2010 and 31 August 2011. 

Applying online - year 7 place

You can apply online for a year 7 place for Secondary school for September 2015 entry, so long as:

  • you apply from 1 September 2014 to 23:59 on 31 October 2014
  • you live in Slough and
  • your child is 11 between 1 September 2014 and 31 August 2015.

You cannot apply on line for entry to any other year, please contact the school or Slough Borough Council Admissions Team directly.

The benefits of applying online are:

  • it is quick and easy to use
  • you can apply from home 24 hours a day, seven days a week (or use the library, internet café, some schools may make their ITC suite available to you)
  • there is no risk your application will be lost in the post
  • you will receive email confirmation that your application has been received
  • you can change your application up to midnight on the closing date
  • the result of your application will be available online later in the year.

Local authority report to the Schools Adjudicator

The local authority is required to submit an annual report on school admissions to the Office of the Schools Adjudicator.  The current report is available below.

There are no changes to the arrangements in the parents' guide above other than the proposals below which have now been agreed.  Full details are available on school websites and will be included in the 2016 parents guide.
