Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)

This question is one of a selection of themes that were covered by the State of the Borough debate or were sent in by attendees.

Question: What support is available for young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and how are young people taught about SEND?

Educating teens about Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) is important for inclusion of everyone in education settings and our communities. Most education of teenagers about SEND is provided by schools. Youth Forums and other youth groups play a role in developing young peoples’ knowledge about SEND.

Slough Local Offer provides SEND information on a wide range of topics for:

  • parents and carers
  • children and young people
  • professionals.
