Council housing improvement

Question: The council housing was rated C3 in a recent report, what is being done about this?
New legal standards for social housing came into force in April 2024 and Local Authority landlords included in the regulatory regime for the first time.
In Slough’s recent housing inspection, housing was rated at C3 Serious Failings. This category means inspectors found significant failings in delivering the consumer standards and substantial improvement is required. Since the judgement was received, the council has been working very closely with the Regulator of Social Housing. We have prepared a detailed Service Improvement Plan to show how we will work towards making sure we can meet the requirements of the Consumer Standards. This Plan has been agreed by the Regulator, and we will provide regular progress updates to our Resident Board, elected councillors and the Regulator as our improvement work progresses.
