Domestic violence and anti-social behaviour
This question is one of a selection of themes that were covered by the State of the Borough debate or were sent in by attendees.
Question: What can be done about domestic violence and anti-social behaviour?
A multi-agency approach to both domestic violence and antisocial behaviour (ASB). Support for domestic abuse victims is mainly provided by specialist domestic abuse partners, like Hestia and Cranstoun. ASB is tackled directly by the council through enforcement, mediation, and reviews. Together, these frameworks aim to protect individuals and communities and provide ways for both emergency support and longer-term resolution. Domestic abuse and antisocial behaviour are different, but they can overlap and agencies will work together to look after people in need.
- For domestic violence, the police can assess and support when they are told about arguing or violence between people in a home. The police can be contacted on 999 or (for non-emergency) 101.
 - To report ASB go to Report antisocial behaviour webpage. This link will take you through an online form which will be submitted directly to the Community Safety Team.
