Road maintenance and the bus station
This question is one of a selection of themes that were covered by the State of the Borough debate or were sent in by attendees.
Question: How are roads maintained and what is happening with the bus station?
The council has responsibility under the Highways Act 1980 to maintain public roads and footways in the borough.
The total length of the primary roads in Slough is 135 km (84 miles). Primary routes include A roads, main roads which link Slough to other towns and approaches to emergency services base stations and hospitals. The total length of the secondary roads in Slough is 30 km (19 miles). Secondary routes include the main routes to schools, some bus routes and some main residential roads.
The council Highways team maintains the road and footways network. The team regularly assesses and repairs the network and respond to reports of issues needing attention.
