Council Tax Support scheme 2026-27

Council Tax Support scheme 2026-2027

Council Tax Support (CTS) is a local discount scheme that provides financial help to working-age households in Slough on a low income.

  • Slough Borough Council sets the scheme for working-age households.
  • The Government sets the rules for how much CTS is paid to people of state pension age, Slough Council is unable to change this.
  • By law, the Council must review spending on the CTS scheme for working-age households each year, even if no changes are made.

Since 2013, Slough Borough Council has offered a CTS scheme covering up to 80% of Council Tax costs for some households. It is one of the most generous schemes in Berkshire, offering more support than many other councils locally and nationally.
