Housing Benefit – Christmas and New Year Payment Dates

If you usually receive your Housing Benefit payment on the dates listed below, please note the revised payment dates for the Christmas and New Year period.

Usual payment date — New payment date

  • Friday 19 December 2025 — Friday 19 December 2025 (no change)
  • Friday 26 December 2025 — Wednesday 24 December 2025
  • Friday 2 January 2026 — Friday 2 January 2026 (no change)

Transferring to Universal Credit

Over the next year, most working age people who receive legacy benefits will need to claim Universal Credit. This includes: Tax Credits, Income-Related Employment and Support Allowance, Income Support, Income-Based Jobseeker's Allowance and Housing Benefit).

Please look out for your migration notice as you will need to claim Universal Credit within three months of receiving that letter.
