Young people and mental health

It’s never too early to start talking to children and young people about mental health. You could find opportunities to talk while on a journey, walking the dog or cooking. Services offering mental health support to young people are:

  • Kooth offers free support to help through anything, big or small
  • Thrive is a free space designed to support if things are tough and will help the young person make positive changes
  • Hope Again offers support when someone dies.

If you are worried about a young person, speak to their GP or school nurse.

You can also get advice and support from MindEd for Families or from the Young Minds Parents Helpline on 0808 802 5544.

The Children and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) deals with all aspects of children and young people’s mental health.
