A brief synopsis of the book: The last British combat soldiers in an Afghanistan army base are counting the hours until their departure for home. But in the final hours disaster strikes. Nineteen-year-old Private Pete 'Skippy' Lyons goes missing and the patrol sent out to find him is ambushed. For the excited families back in the UK waiting to welcome their husbands and sons home this suddenly becomes a deeply fraught anxious time.
